Personalized Duffle Bags Bring Dignity to Foster Children

Writer's picture: Candace SampsonCandace Sampson

I'm someone who absolutely loves to help people and to give them dignity and make sure that they have their basic needs met. I happen to run across a program today on Facebook that helps to give dignity to foster children, the program is called Foster Love. The main idea that they were presenting is a duffel bag company is selling duffel bags with paints, brushes, and other items you would need to decorate those bags, they also include small items that the child will need when they first enter a new family such as toothbrushes, Kleenex, stuffed animal, and maybe pen and paper. I haven't signed up for it to see what the cost might be, but I'm assuming that it's probably not cheap. The basic idea is to order these bags decorate them and fill them with items that children would need when moving into a new home. Then you need to take the bags and turn them into your nearest foster care program or Human Services Child Protective Services program. If you want to help children in this way I don't think that you have to order from any certain company you can make the bags yourself or buy the bags from Walmart even, decorate them and put items in that you feel a child would need when they're going to a new home and turn them into your nearest social services department I absolutely love this idea and I'm one who will do it on my own by purchasing the bags locally, decorating them, filling them with items that I feel necessary, and then turning them into the local child protection agency.

I was a foster mother for about 6 years and I remember those poor children moving into my home and all of their personal belongings are stuffed into a garbage bag, plastic or paper bags. I believe that it would be much nicer if a child could pack their things into nice duffel bag and be able to move into a new home with a bit of dignity and pride plus the decorations that you put on the bags could encourage the child bye telling them they're awesome or you've got this and a happy uplifting picture with unicorns or flowers could make a big difference to a child. I'm one who loves to find ways to uplift others I think it's very necessary in the world we live in today, and what better way to do this , than to provide a child a customized, personal bag and some simple brand new personal belongings to make their move just a little easier.

. Blessings love and light,
